The PAS Internship
Every Pan-African Studies major completes an internship as part of the degree – an opportunity to connect the ideas and approaches of Black Studies to real-world experience. You’ll identify or develop an internship site based on your interests, your career goals and the mission of Pan-African Studies, in settings from public schools and legal offices to community organizations, health care institutions, media organizations and cultural institutions.
Along the way, you’ll explore potential career paths, develop practical skills in a professional or community setting and see how the knowledge you’ve built in PAS applies beyond the classroom. The experience helps you clarify your professional interests, build relationships and networks and prepare for employment or graduate and professional education.
Where PAS Takes You
Pan-African Studies alumni have gone on to law school, social work, public service, the policy arena, journalism, arts administration, health advocacy, education and social entrepreneurship. See where the degree can lead on our Career Pathways page, and find opportunities and support through the University Career Center and Cardinal Careers, where current postings live.
