A&S College Level Scholarships
Eligibility:
An undergraduate A&S student who plans a career in public or community service.
Amount of aid: $1000
Eligibility:
Seniors at Central Hardin High School (Hardin County School District, Kentucky) who have been accepted at and plan to attend the University of Louisville in Fall 2026. Recipients are selected based on academic record, character and work ethic, and demonstrated financial need.
Amount of aid: $1,500 (renewable)
Additional details:
Applications must be submitted to the Central Hardin High School Senior Counselor by March 11, 2026. Do not submit applications online to the University of Louisville.
Required materials: completed application form (download the form here), 2026-2027 FAFSA, personal statement (maximum 2 pages), and high school transcript. The personal statement should address how the applicant satisfies the scholarship's mission to support solid students with demonstrated financial need who are motivated toward hard work, value education, and demonstrate character, reliability, good citizenship, and academic standing.
Finalists will be forwarded to the College of Arts and Sciences selection committee, with final awards announced in early May.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Deborah S. and Richard J. Scholarship, a student must:
- Be enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences.
- Be in Good Academic Standing.
- Be chosen by the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences.
Additional details:
Preference will be given to Undergraduate Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who fall upon an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event with financial need, thus altering their ability to remain actively enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Eligibility:
- Be enrolled in a graduate degree program in the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Be in Good Academic Standing
- Demonstrate Financial Need.
Eligibility:
Student must have a declared major in the College of Arts and Sciences, have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and demonstrate a commitment to community service
Amount of aid: $500
Number of scholarships awarded per year: 2
Application Requirements:
Applicants must submit a 1-2 page personal statement that demonstrates how their community work and achievements align with Dr. Hudson's principles and work. The personal statement should clearly articulate the applicant's commitment to community service and how their experiences reflect the values and legacy that Dr. J. Blaine Hudson represented.
Eligibility:
Be an approved major in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics.
Have completed a minimum of one semester at the University of Louisville.
Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, cumulative and in the major.
Preference for this award is shown to students from Crawford, Harrison, or other counties in southern Indiana. Secondary preference shown to students from Bullitt, Hardin, Jefferson, Meade, or Oldham counties in Kentucky.
Additional details:
Applicants must submit a 2–3-page personal statement about their career goals and the way in which the Roggenkamp Scholarship would assist them in pursuit of their degree. The statement should clearly articulate the applicant's professional aspirations and demonstrate how the scholarship will support their academic success and career development.
J. B. Speed Graduate Scholarship
Eligibility:
A resident of the USA,
A senior in the graduating class planning to pursue post-graduate courses at University of Louisville or other USA institution, and
Specially gifted in any discipline
J. B. Speed Junior Scholarship
Eligibility:
To be eligible, you must be a member of the Sophomore class in the College of Arts & Sciences, and resident of Louisville, KY.
J. B. Speed Open Scholarship
Eligibility:
To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate student in the College of Arts & Sciences.
J. B. Speed Senior Scholarship
Eligibility:
To be eligible, you must be a member of the Junior class in the College of Arts & Sciences, and Resident of Louisville, KY.
Eligibility:
Be a student in good standing and/or must otherwise have fulfilled all requirements for admission to the College of Arts and Sciences.
Additional details:
Applicants must submit a 1-page personal statement indicating their academic and career goals and how this award will help them achieve these goals. The statement should clearly articulate the applicant's educational objectives and demonstrate how the scholarship will support their academic journey and future career aspirations.
Eligibility:
- Be a student in the College of Arts & Sciences
- Have attended Fern Creek High School.
- Be in Good Academic Standing.
Eligibility:
Be an undergraduate majoring in geology, biology, chemistry or physics at the University of Louisville with demonstrated financial need as certified by the Office of Financial Aid.
Preference will be given to those who demonstrate environmental stewardship in extracurricular activities.
Amount of aid: Minimum $500
Additional details:
Applicants must submit a personal statement (maximum length 3 pages) describing their financial need and how their academic work and extracurricular activities relate to STEM and/or environmental stewardship. The statement should clearly demonstrate the applicant's commitment to environmental stewardship through their involvement in relevant activities, organizations, or initiatives.

- Be enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences.
- Be in Good Academic Standing.
Additional details:
Preference will be given to a University of Louisville Cheerleader or student who has overcome a significant life challenge with demonstrated need to cover the costs of tuition, book, student fees, room and board at the University of Louisville.
Eligibility:
Several awards for full-time undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences who are strongly motivated to complete their degrees and who have substantial financial need.
Additional details:
Applicants must submit a 3–4-page personal statement discussing their educational and career goals and the way in which a Roseman Scholarship would assist them in pursuit of their degree. The statement should demonstrate the applicant's strong motivation to complete their degree and clearly articulate how the scholarship will support their academic success and future career aspirations.

Arthur D. Yocom Scholarship
An undergraduate A&S student who plans a career in public or community service.
Arts & Sciences Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA)
Current Studio Art & Design graduate students in the M.F.A. program who have completed a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework.
GTAs are expected to teach 6 hours (two courses) of introductory-level courses over the academic year.
Barbara Bullitt Christian Memorial Scholarship in Photography
Full time distinguished undergraduate in the photography program nominated by the program's faculty and based on merit demonstrated through creative concepts in photography; strong execution and craft; commitment to continual improvement of their work; and interaction with faculty and peers in the creative process.
Bill Fischer Senior Project Grant
Based on faculty recommendations following BFA reviews.
Two awards of $250 are given to BFA candidates to help with materials costs for completing their senior show.
Blue Coats Scholarship
Applicants must be currently employed law enforcement practitioners in Jefferson County, KY who are enrolled in a degree or certificate granting program in the Department of Criminal Justice at UofL.
Preference will be given to those applicants attending a leadership development series or classes in order to advance professionally to a senior leadership position. Secondary preference will be given to applicants completing a bachelor’s degree. Tertiary preference will be given to applicants completing a graduate level degree.
Note:Recipients within less than 5 years of retirement are not eligible.
Applications must be submitted to the Criminal Justice Department Chair, Room 203 Brigman Hall, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY 40292, no later than March 1st
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR APPLICATION
1. Official college transcripts from all colleges attended.
2. Statement from the applicant explaining why he/she has chosen to pursue a career in Law Enforcement and how the scholarship would be beneficial to their success.
3. Letter of recommendation from their agency head, chief or CEO to be considered.
4. Written statement that they are not planning to retire within less than five years.
5. Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
6.Resume (currently employed personnel)
7. A photograph suitable for use in Press Releases announcing the scholarship recipients.
