Beyond the Classroom
The crown jewel is the Steven Humphrey Undergraduate Philosophy Colloquium, an annual international conference each spring that brings student presenters from across North America to Louisville – past keynotes have come from leading research universities, and former presenters describe it as transformative. Each fall, on World Philosophy Day, the Philosophy Slam brings high school students from across Louisville to campus to tackle philosophical questions through performances, debates and creative presentations. In between, the Philosophy Club keeps the conversation going with open discussions, film screenings and reading groups, and Phi Sigma Tau’s Kentucky Epsilon chapter recognizes and connects the department’s top students.
