Dean Dayna Touron
Dayna Touron, PhD, joined the University of Louisville in July 2023 as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Guided by a deep belief in the transformative power of a liberal arts education, she is committed to empowering students and fostering an academic environment grounded in belonging, inquiry and real-world application. An experienced administrator, educator and researcher, Dean Touron champions the teacher-scholar model and emphasizes student engagement, shared governance and responsible financial stewardship. Since arriving at UofL, she has focused on developing systems that remove barriers and support faculty and staff in doing their best work through increased efficiency, collaboration and transparency.
Dean Touron is dedicated to preserving the college’s strong liberal arts foundation while expanding high-demand academic programs and experiential learning opportunities, including study abroad, internships and hands-on learning. A core priority of her leadership is increasing access so that all students – regardless of background – can benefit from a high-quality education enriched by community-based and global experiences.
Prior to joining UofL, Dean Touron served as associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Maryville College and her master’s and doctoral degrees from Syracuse University. A nationally and internationally recognized scholar in psychology, her research on cognition and aging has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, and she has served on the editorial boards of leading journals.
