Graduate Admissions
Ready to deepen your expertise in chemical science? Our graduate programs offer mentorship from leading researchers, cutting-edge laboratory facilities and a collaborative community dedicated to your success in chemistry.
How to apply
-
1Determine Your Eligibility
Our graduate programs require:
- A BA or BS in chemistry or a related field such as physics, engineering or mathematics, with a background equal to about 36 credit hours of undergraduate chemistry. (Chemical physics applicants can swap in advanced physics or math; if you have gaps, you may be admitted with coursework to fill them.)
- A grade-point average of at least 3.0/4.0.
- If English isn’t your native language, show proficiency with a B or better in ENGL 101 (or equivalent) or a qualifying TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score. A B-minus in ENGL 101 won’t meet it.
Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) scores are optional, and you’re welcome to send them as added evidence of your ability.
-
2Apply to the Graduate School
All applicants submit the following through the Graduate School application portal:
- Completed application and $65 fee
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- A personal statement
- You’re welcome (but not required) to reach out to faculty whose research interests you and name them in your personal statement.
- Two letters of recommendation addressing your academic and/or artistic achievements
