Experience history where it happens
Internships are where historical training becomes career preparation – especially for students interested in public history, museums, archives, historic preservation, cultural heritage, education, nonprofit work and public service. You’ll develop skills employers value in every field: research, writing for public audiences, collections work, interpretation, exhibit development, archival processing, oral history, project management and community engagement.
How it works
Students pursue placements with museums, archives, historic sites, libraries, community history organizations, documentary and oral history projects, cultural institutions, and government and nonprofit offices. Internship openings are posted in Cardinal Careers, and the department’s Internship Coordinator, Dr. Teresa Keeley, helps students map placements to their interests and career goals.
