The Department of Geographic & Environmental Sciences at the University of Louisville has released its Spring 2025 newsletter, highlighting exceptional student achievements and groundbreaking faculty research initiatives. Notable successes include Jordan Sharp winning the Best Master's Paper award at SEDAAG 2024, undergraduate Dominic LaDuke being selected as a UofL Brand Hero for community-engagement research and Rebecca Dixon earning a Top 3 A&S Poster Award at Research! Louisville 2024. The department secured a major $6 million NSF EPSCoR grant for the Equitable Nature-based Climate Solutions (ENACTS) project, focusing on climate resilience in partnership with University of New Hampshire. Faculty achievements include Dr. Margath Walker delivering the keynote address at the 95th Indiana Academy of Social Sciences Conference and multiple research presentations at international conferences. The Center for GIS successfully hosted GIS Day 2024 with inspiring presentations and community engagement. The newsletter also features upcoming seminars, internship opportunities including NASA DEVELOP and Oak Ridge National Laboratory programs and the department's continued commitment to addressing pressing environmental and social challenges through innovative research and education.
