Department Prizes

Each spring the department recognizes outstanding student work with two prizes, both open to any University of Louisville student:

  • Carolyn Krause Maddox Paper Prize – $300; one to three awards annually for research on intersectional approaches to gender and sexuality. Winners present their work at the department’s spring student lectures.
  • June Jordan Prize – $300; one to three awards annually for creative and scholarly projects.
