Why study abroad?
Immersion is the most effective way to master a language. When you study abroad, you're not just learning vocabulary – you're living the language every day.
Whether staying with a host family, attending local universities or exploring your destination city, you'll use your language skills in authentic, real-world contexts. Beyond language proficiency, you'll build cross-cultural competence, global awareness and career-ready skills that employers value.
Language majors and minors are especially encouraged to spend at least one semester or summer abroad. Students on pre-approved study abroad programs can satisfy a substantial number of their major and minor course requirements, as well as general education credits.
