Assistant Professor of Biology Matt Kolmann’s recent collaborative research on ancient fish reveals an aspect of evolution in which existing jaw structures were repurposed as fish evolved to find new ways to capture and eat prey.

Pipeline, a powerful and timely drama by acclaimed playwright Dominique Morisseau, comes to the University of Louisville for a limited run this month.  

Set against the backdrop of America’s education and criminal justice systems, Pipeline follows Nya, a dedicated public school teacher and single mother, and Omari, her son. When a heated incident threatens to derail Omari’s future, Nya must confront painful questions about race, class, power, and what it truly means to protect the people we love.  

Finding Her Flight Path: Air Force ROTC Cadet and Criminal Justice Major Embraces Lessons in Leadership

When Criminal Justice Major Sofia Carden arrived on campus, she wasn’t entirely sure what direction her college journey would take.  

Now, as an Air Force ROTC Student Ambassador, she’s found purpose, leadership, and a future in the skies. 

“I think it’s a really special position to be in,” Carden said of her ambassador role. “For someone who doesn’t come from a military background, ROTC can seem intimidating. But I want to show students what it’s really like—the teamwork, the growth, and the community. ROTC has shaped me as a person and as a leader.” 

UofL Students Share Astronomy Research on National Stage

This winter, University of Louisville students took their research to one of the biggest stages in astronomy: the American Astronomical Society (AAS) meeting in Phoenix. 

The conference brings together thousands of astronomers from around the world to share discoveries, hear from leading experts and connect with organizations like NASA and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
