For University of Louisville political science major Elia Trocan, classroom lessons are coming to life through hands-on experience in Kentucky state government.  

Now in her third year at UofL, Trocan is interning with the Kentucky Senate Majority Communications team—after previously completing an internship with Rep. Timmy Truett in the Kentucky House of Representatives.  

The University of Louisville Department of Theatre Arts is proud to present William Shakespeare’s "As You Like It," directed by Dr. Ari Calvano. The production will run November 14th-November 23rd at The Playhouse.   

The Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research is thrilled to announce Dr. Beth E. Richie as its speaker for the 19th Annual Anne Braden Memorial Lecture on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 6 PM.

This summer, Bingham Faculty Fellow and Assistant Sociology Professor Jasmine Whiteside presented her latest research at the Rural Sociological Society Conference in Salt Lake City and published two major articles that focus on the experiences of rural and first-generation college students. 

Her conference session, “Educational Aspirations, Rural Opportunities: Exploring the Role of Place and First-Generation Status on Educational Attainment,” focused on how students’ backgrounds shape their educational journeys. 

The Department of Classical and Modern Languages is proud to announce that Associate Professor of German Lucian Rothe has been selected as the recipient of the Award for Outstanding German Program Development and Advocacy by the German Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

When Lin Wu discovered the geography program, they felt like they had found UofL’s best kept secret. 

Housed within the Department of Geographic and Environmental Sciences, the major offered Wu everything they were looking for in terms of a career path that could have an impact on the local community and beyond.

Undergraduate students in Math 106, Applied Mathematics for Understanding Science and Evolution, have the unique opportunity to experience a “three-in-one” interdisciplinary class this spring combining mathematics, biological anthropology and a lab course – all while earning 4 total credits. 

The Department of Chemistry is pushing the frontiers of scientific discovery with several major recent research grants totaling more than $3.4 million. 

Together, these awards will not only advance groundbreaking work in nanomaterials, catalysis, clean energy, and astrochemistry—they will also create significant opportunities for students to participate in cutting-edge research. 

Over the next 3–5 years, potentially more than 30 graduate research assistants (GRAs) will be supported through these projects.
