Steve Muir presented his paper "Held's Moral Roles & An Obligation to Refer" at the 2nd International Trans Studies Conference in September. The paper articulates the moral role of medical provider in the context of the rise in "right of conscience" bills. These bills aim to carve out a "right of conscience" for medical professionals that materially amounts to the ability to deny care, and importantly referral for care, on the basis of personal discomfort, e.g. with abortion services or transgender individuals.
