Jennifer Clark’s experience as a communication major opened her to many opportunities to be of service in her community, ultimately leading to a successful nonprofit career in which she is now the first female CEO at St. Vincent de Paul in Louisville (SVDP).

Not Yet / Always Been emerges from the classroom and the archives. The exhibition is a product of collaborative discussions and debates that a mixed graduate and undergraduate seminar provides. It showcases the material stuff of the Williams-Nichols Collection, yet it also puts on display the affective and imaginative—our creative processes of discovering hope and belonging in the archive.

Irma Avdic (BS Chemistry ’21) believes the most important factor in distinguishing yourself in any field is to put your efforts where your passions lie, and to surround yourself with supportive mentors and colleagues who will foster your growth along the way. As an undergraduate researcher in UofL’s Chemistry department, Avdic experienced firsthand the community that forms around research.

It was not Written Down tells an unfinished story of longing and loss. Vestiges of the past become the substance of futures that may never materialize. Sparks still fly between friends.

Origin Stories is an exhibition of Peruvian pre-Columbian work from the archives of the Speed Art Museum curated by Dani Deeley. On view for the first time in nearly forty years, the objects in this exhibition provoke questions about the acquisition of objects, the circumstances of their arrival, and their current condition.
